The tapas here are exceptional. We started with the croquetas — creamy, golden and perfectly crisp on the outside. The jamón and mushroom varieties were our favourites. The jamón ibérico de bellota is sliced to order and served with pan con tomate. It's the real deal, and the quality is evident in every bite.

Grilled and Fried Specialities

The pimientos de padrón — blistered padrón peppers with coarse salt — are a must. The gambas al ajillo arrive sizzling in a clay dish, garlicky and succulent. For something heartier, the secreto ibérico — a marbled cut of pork — is grilled to perfection and served with roasted potatoes.

Wine and Drinks

The wine list focuses on Spanish regions: Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Rías Baixas and more. The house Rioja by the glass is excellent value. We also tried the vermut — a Madrid tradition — and it was perfect with the tapas. The bar stocks a good selection of craft beers and non-alcoholic options. Service is fast and friendly, even when the place is packed.

Malasaña is one of Madrid's most dynamic neighbourhoods, full of boutiques, bars and restaurants. Madrid Tapas & Slots Lounge fits right in — it's the kind of place where you might start with a late lunch and still be there at midnight. The crowd is mixed: locals, expats and tourists who've discovered the spot through word of mouth.

The venue is a short walk from Tribunal and Gran Vía metro stations. Street parking is limited, so public transport or a taxi is recommended. The area is safe and busy well into the early hours.
